Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri is the bodega from the Rioja. This bodega has vineyards in two villages; Labastida Alava and San Vicente de La Sonsierra from the Rioja Alta. Until 2009 the grapes from the two vineyards were used interchangeably but since 2009 they have decided to separate these grapes and I have two new wines called "Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida" and "Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente"
These wines have their own personality but have in common that (quite rightly) very high ratings which is quite unique given the price. These wines can compete with the often much more expensive wine from the Rioja. The Guia Penin, Parker and even our own WineLife are very enthusiastic about this new star from the Rioja.
The Lindes de Remelluri Labastida is a beautiful accessible red wine. Fresh fruit, a hint of mountain herbs, minerals, optimum acidity and a very pleasant aftertaste. Silky on arrival, then packed with juicy dark fruit complicated by flowers and a hint of blood orange. Powerful but supple, with seamless texture, fine-grained tannins and impressive energy on the finish. A new delicious way for Rioja. Great value for money.

Telmo Rodriguez has been involved with La Granja Remelluri for a few years now. Remelluri was purchased by Telmo's father in 1968. The property is beautifully situated at an altitude of around 600 meters, a minute or 15 minutes east of Haro. In the early nineties, the young Telmo caused a furore with the wines of Remelluri. Difference of opinion with father Rodriguez at the time, Telmo decided to leave Remelluri. Telmo has since returned and is working with his sister on the recovery of Remelluri. The Reserva 2008 (the first harvest under the responsibility of Telmo) was recently released and the result is impressive. The wines of Remelluri are more classic in style than Telmo's own property and are characterized by a high degree of elegance.
